On March 20, Uniag Cooperative held its Annual General Meeting at Hôtel MOCO in Valleyfield, bringing together 110 members, partners, and guests. The event provided an opportunity to review a 2025 marked by growth, strategic investments, and a tangible return of value to members.

An assembly focused on connection and recognition

The day began in a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a sugar shack–inspired brunch, followed by a dynamic program highlighting the cooperative’s achievements.

Among the highlights, brothers Nicolas and Samuel St-Jacques of Laitue St-Jacques were recognized for receiving the Sollio Cooperative Group’s Rising Generation Award, underscoring the vitality of the next generation in agriculture.

In the same spirit, Uniag presented cheques to six young participants in its Agricultural Succession Support Fund, totaling $38,757. This concrete initiative reflects the cooperative’s commitment to the next generation of producers.

Attendees also took part in a presentation by Frédéric Auger of SOCODEVI on the importance of international cooperation, as well as a panel discussion featuring board members, which provided valuable insight into governance and member representation.

Strong financial results in 2025

Despite a challenging environment, Uniag Cooperative maintained solid financial performance.

  • Consolidated revenue: $255 million
  • Surplus: $6.5 million

These results enabled the Board of Directors to take concrete actions benefiting members.

First, the full repayment of preferred shares issued in 2020 was announced, totaling $1,045,481, distributed among 664 members.

The assembly also approved a 100% cash patronage refund of $1,562,999.

In total, $2,608,480 will be redistributed to members in the coming weeks — a clear demonstration of the value of the cooperative model.

Active and engaged governance

Four positions were up for election:

  • Alison Brosseau (Sector 2 – Jardins-de-Napierville RCM)
  • Jenna Soesbergen (Sector 4 – Haut-Saint-Laurent RCM)
  • Marc Quesnel (Sector 6 – Ontario)

These three administrators were elected by acclamation.

In the horticultural sector, the assembly welcomed a new board member. Mario Guérin, of Ferme Guérin et Frère 2000 Inc., was appointed to a three-year term, succeeding Gabriel Van Winden, who served with dedication over the past six years.

A cooperative looking ahead

The event also included updates from Sollio Cooperative Group, including outlooks for its various divisions such as Sollio Agriculture, BMR, and Olymel.

The day concluded in a friendly atmosphere with a trivia game and a networking cocktail, encouraging exchanges among members, administrators, and partners.

With nearly 960 member-owners and a growing presence in Ontario, Uniag Cooperative continues to expand by focusing on proximity, expertise, and the strength of its network.

“Together, we will continue to invest, innovate, and cultivate the future,” the president concluded.
