On July 7, our cohort gathered for a day rich in learning, made possible thanks to the MAPAQ’s Prime-Vert 2023-2026 Program (sub-component 2.2). The cohort aims to increase mobilization, collaboration, and knowledge transfer in order to encourage the adoption of practices that improve soil health and conservation in the face of agri-environmental challenges.
Here’s an overview of the day:
☀️ Morning (in St-Urbain-Premier):
* Engaging workshop on soil profiles led by Marie-Ève Bernard from MAPAQ, held directly in a field belonging to each of two participating producers.
* Practical discussions on intercropping in corn and fall rye with Jonathan Messerli, advisory expert at Uniag Cooperative and agricultural producer.
🌤️ Afternoon (in Ste-Martine):
* Discussions on cover crops and fall cereals with Lyne Beaumont, Product and Agronomy Manager at Maizex Seeds.
A big thank you to our experts and participants for their great energy, commitment, and the richness of the exchanges! This day greatly stimulated collective reflection and strengthened our motivation to innovate for our land. The very last event of this current cohort will take place this fall. 🤝🌱
🚀 Big news: New cohorts in preparation!
Uniag Cooperative wishes to launch a second cohort lasting one year on a similar theme, and potentially a third depending on the interest generated and available program funding. The start of this project is planned for winter 2027.
A financial incentive of $750 is offered to agricultural operations for implementing practices related to the theme (conditions apply). 💰
