La Coop Unifrontières and Sollio Groupe Coopératif help the community with local products

In order to support our fellow citizens in these difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic, La Coop Unifrontières is contributing to Sollio Groupe Coopératif’s From Us to You initiative by making a donation of $33,750 worth of products from local agricultural entrepreneurs. These products from our members will be distributed to food banks located in our territory. Thanks to Sollio Groupe Coopératif’s vast network of members, cooperatives, and businesses, the market value of the foodstuffs from this initiative totals $450,000.

By partnering with food banks, whose primary mission is to provide food aid to vulnerable people in vulnerable situations, we are helping to better meet the needs of our communities in these difficult times and to ensure the food security of the population.

“Imbued with our cooperative values, Sollio Groupe Coopératif and sixteen agricultural cooperatives in Québec and Eastern Ontario not only raised money for the From Us to You initiative, but also made it possible to imagine, in our own way, sustainably feeding our world with products from home while contributing to the regional economy. We sincerely hope that our actions will help our communities in these difficult times,” says Mr. Gaétan Desroches, CEO of Sollio Groupe Coopératif.

“We have been very touched to see the great generosity of the cooperators since the beginning of the crisis. In fact, we know that many of our co-op’s member farms have not hesitated to give generously to support food banks. It was only natural for La Coop Unifrontières to do its part by contributing to the From Us To You initiative of our great network,” explains Jean-Sébastien Leblanc, General Manager of La Coop Unifrontières.
